Tour of The Real Andalucia

Ramon, I cannot find enough words to tell you how good the trip was.  It was a bit of a leap of faith to book this trip sight unseen and without really knowing you or your company.  I was especially anxious because our friends were going as well and if it had been a bad experience, I would have felt responsible.  I assure you, it was a grand experience in every regard. Thank you and thank you.  We have already shared the information of your company with many colleagues and friends.  I hope you get business in the future from this!

Julia and the tapas tour were great.  She was informative and genuine and intelligent.  Loved her and the foods!

The cooking school and market tour were equally great.  Maria and Victor were personable and engaging and capable.  And the cooking class itself was well run and very organized.  Great experience.

Pablo was excellent.  He was relaxed and informative and I believe he enjoyed the four of us.  We enjoyed him.  As for the three days with him, Eiriz Jamon was wonderful.  Jesus was an excellent guide and we loved every minute of our time there.  The restaurant and cavern tour in Aricena was quite nice as well.  We have farms back in the States and so this was like coming home sort of.  Loved Eiriz Jamon.

Jerez and Tio Pepe was awesome.  The Cafe Royalty served a fine meal and it was a good dining experience.  Was informative learning about the history of Cadiz as well.  The guide, Melanie, at Tio Pepe was excellent.  LOVED her.

Perhaps our favorite emotional experience was the family bakery in El Bosque.  The warmth and genuine caring and passion from Franco and his father were overwhelming for us.  And the bread making experience was a highlight of the trip.  Enjoyed the cheese tour as well in that town.  Cheeses were excellent quality and learned a lot in the tour.  Enjoyed the meal at the hotel for the afternoon dining. Especially liked the local specialties.

Hotel Albanico was quite charming.  More than acceptable and great location for being in old Seville.  Clean rooms and very nice folks.

I cannot thank you enough for what you provided.  Thank you for the taxi reimbursement as well.  Kudos to all and appreciation from the bottom of my heart.

Barcelona and Priorat

Hola Ramon,

Alanna and I had an amazing trip thanks to your help, the itinerary you put together for us and our wonderful guides! We can't thank you enough and we've been telling our friends and family about the great experience as well.

Manel and Rachel were great guides! They were very nice, they were on time and worked hard to stay on track with our timeline so we could see everything that was on the itinerary. We were very impressed with how much we were able to fit in! They also gave us so much local information that really made the experience unique.

Our absolute favorite was getting out of the city for a couple of days and visiting all of the wineries in the Priorat region. That side trip was so interesting, relaxing and fun! We still can't believe how fortunate we were to get to meet with the different winemakers for our own private tours and wine tastings and of course as you said, the wines were excellent! We even took home a few bottles ourselves. The next time you talk to Rachel and Manel please pass along the message to them that we had a wonderful time with them!

We don't really have any negative things to say about the whole trip, everything really worked out perfectly for us!

Anyway, I hope you don't mind if we pass along your contact information to others who have asked for it! We are scheming to try to plan our next trip to Spain and maybe we can go to Madrid or the Rioja region next!

Muchas Gracias!
Ike and Alanna

Real Andalucia

Dear Ramon,

Thanks very much for the itinerary you organised for us. Pablo was great and Jesus is definitely not an experience to be missed.

We thoroughly enjoyed the bread making and were fascinated by the water mill. The baker himself was delightful. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, loved Jerez and the winery and the visit to the Jamon factory/farm was the standout experience of the whole trip.

Overall we loved it and really enjoyed the hotels you chose. I would have no qualms about recommending your service to my friends - and I was very impressed by the way you kept a check with the various guides on our progress.

Regards and best wishes,
Greg Whittaker

Basque Country and Rioja

Hi Ramon,

My husband Peter and I really enjoyed the trip and were very happy with it.

We are so glad we added the day trip in San Sebastian. It was very well executed, and we loved our tour guide, Jon. He was very knowledgable about the area. He grew up nearby and has lived there most of his life. He was energetic and fun. Zumaia was stunning, Getaria was quaint and had old charm, and of course San Sebastian was breathtaking. The Pinxtos tour was delicious and so much fun, and Jon talked his way into a supper club and the gentlemen let us have a tour and let us try some of their food and wine! He really went above and beyond, and we cannot recommend him and the tour enough. Overall, this day trip was absolutely gorgeous and we got to do so much in just 8 hours.

The wine tour of La Rioja was great as well. Alberto, our tour guide, was very kind and knowledgeable. We liked that some of the bodegas we visited were modern, and some were older. It was a nice mix. We enjoyed the architectural component as well, and each bodega's design was very different from the next. It was very interesting to see the small village of LaGuardia, compared to the bigger town of Logrono. Alberto listened to our requests and concerns, and made changes to the tour appropriately, which was very much appreciated. The lunches on both days were very tasty and enjoyable. On one day, we had some time in between bodegas, and he took us to a boutique hotel with a great wine selection so we could try some wines by the glass. It was a nice touch and a good use of our time.

We really enjoyed the tour at Marques de Riscal. That tour was different and very interesting! We highly recommend that one.

We just returned to the states and we are reeling from our beautiful, delicious and wonderful honeymoon! Thank you for listening to my very specific requests and planning all of this for us. We really enjoyed it.

Thanks again, Katie Goan

Will unpack today (arrived from our final 3 days in Madrid late last night) and put my home in order then e-mail you in the next few days. My comments and those of my traveling companions will be full of praise. You envisioned what we wanted in a vacation and delivered beyond our expectations.

Many thanks,

Hi Ramon,

We were very happy with the trip. Alberto was a first class guide. Extremely knowledgeable on both the area and wines. And he was a pleasure to have as company. He is clearly respected at the wineries. All of them were of a high quality. We leaned a lot about wine making and Rioja and had a very enjoyable holiday.

Thank you

Hi Ramon,

Many many thanks for doing the quotes and your prompt replies. Still after almost 8 years, I think you and your company are still the best, always replying promptly and always giving good advices. I hope to tour with your company again in the near future. Thank you for the great support.

Best regards,

Thank you Ramon!  I just placed an order for the port.  This was a spectacular tasting – and it actually converted my entire family to loving ports, which I have loved for many years.  Once again, your service is as spectacular as these ports!

If you did travel plans around the world, we would work with you every time we travel, because we have been so incredibly happy – all three times we have had the privilege of working with you - with your service.  And you can quote me on that!

Hi Ramon
Wanted to share this email I just woke up to from Iftikhar. Thank you for suggesting this to them. Have a great Sunday.
Wanted to let you how our trip went.

Feedback from 'the guys' was "fabulous".

It was a great trip, I could go on about the food and wine, "4 to 5 bottles a day can do wonders".
Jon our tour guide fit in well in our group, he was a pleasure to hang out with. The families at the vineyard, cider house and the farm were delightful hosts.

Even the first 2 days of rain did not dampen the experience, specially the bright sunny day on the tour amply made up for it.

Thankyou for helping put together the trip.

Portugal and Galicia

Dear Ramon:

Alive and well, gradually returning to Los Angeles time, but not rushing the body.  Seems jetlag recovery takes a bit longer the older I am.

The trip was lovely and for the most part, relaxing, as we had the driver/guides to shuttle us about.  We enjoyed the sights and sounds of the various sites and venues.

The Hotel in Lisbon was very nice, and new with a large room and bath decorated tiles that make Lisbon so uni ...great breakfast and helpful staff. The second hotel was dramatic, DRAMATIC and THEATRICAL..., stage lighting, flowing and modern.  They seemed to go overboard with the DRAMA .great location.  In Santiago, we had a taste of "old charm and character" marked by a lovely terrace with a view of Santiago de Compestela....had it not been raining, we would have enjoyed cocktails on the terrace each night.

All hotels were very nicely located for us to walk around and discover restaurants.

Our guides were very good...Lisbon, he took us to the Museum of Tiles at my request, where we spent a good amount of time<  Guide in Porto, Pedro very nice and Patricia in Galicia very knowledgeable.  The three gave us a good feeling and sense of where we were, past and present.

Thank you for, once again, for making our trip so enjoyable.

Hi Ramon

Thank you for a truly brilliant time in your homeland last weekend. It was even more beautiful than I expected in every way with the mountains, the farmlands, hill top towns and the vineyards & wineries.  The cycling was perfect, really something to shout about with excellent terrain, views and weather. Loved mountain biking off road through the vineyards and along the river and road biking along the quiet rolling country roads and up by the “sleeping lion” (is that what it’s called?).

The food was delicious and the tapas in Logrono great fun.

Barcelona and Andalucia

HI Ramon:

They did love their trip.  They enjoyed each place they visited and enjoyed all the guides.  They usually don’t say too much unless there is a problem and they didn’t seem to have any problems so I really do thank you for making their time in Spain informative, comfortable and exciting for them.

Hopefully, will be in touch again shortly with other clients that will visit Spain.

Thank you for your help and your recommendations. I appreciate it.

We traveled to Spain for three weeks from May 30 to June 20, staying in Madrid for six nights, Sevilla for four nights, Granada for two nights and Barcelona for eight nights. All arrangements for the trip were made by Ramon Ramirez at The Unique Traveller, contact information:

I gave the company a list of sites we wanted to see, our travel dates, our requirements for transfers, guides and the level of accommodations we expected, as well as personal preferences for food ( my wife is a vegetarian),in country travel, and areas of each city in which we wanted to be located.

Overall, we could not be more pleased with the service provided by the Unique Traveller. Transfers went smoothly, in country air and train travel was well arranged and easily accomplished, accommodations were excellent. Each hotel was perfectly located, with excellent service and very helpful staffs. Ramon arranged upgrades in each hotel and because we were celebrating an anniversary and birthday, our hotel stays were greeted with champagne (Cava), chocolate and fruit. Perhaps the best things about the arrangements that were made for us were the guides. In each city our local guides were just perfect. Very knowledgeable, very competent and very personable. We skipped the line at all the major sites and were quickly immersed into the history and importance of each site. The guides were all helpful in recommending things to do on our own, and restaurants and shops that were off the tourist track, that were worth a visit.

In summary, our trip, which was pretty extensive and just crammed with activities, was very well arranged by The Unique Traveller. It went off without a hitch and provided everything we expected and more. All at a considerable savings than what I could have arranged on my own.  If you are planning custom travel, you could not do better than this company. We recommend them highly and without reservation.

We are back from Spain and I just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time.  Our driver, Pablo was fantastic.  He was very personable, friendly and provided us with much information about sights along the way as well as recommendations for dinner in the evening.  He was always on time in the morning but was adaptable to our interests during the course of the day.  He went above and beyond in helping us resolve some luggage issues.  Our guides in Ronda, Granada, and for the olive oil and winery tour were outstanding.  I believe that all of us would agree that the best meal provided was the lunch in Montilla.  Eating in a small local restaurant was delightful.  Carlos, the owner, greeted us at the door, and served us wonderful food and wine through out the meal.  Once again thank you for your assistance in making this a great vacation.

Madrid and Barcelona

Hi Ramon,
Trust all is well with you and thank you again for taking time-out to meet me for lunch at Notting hill Gate.

Back this Monday from our week on Mallorca at Fornalutx, which was brilliant way to finish-up our Spain holiday. We had electric powered bikes plus  a yacht at Port Soller, to get around the island.

Having said that our week in Catalan, Madrid and surrounds with Gloria and Maria was our absolute best holiday ever! Your organisation was perfect, 10/10, with airport pick-ups and drop-offs, hotel selections and actual day-to-day tours exceeded our wildest of expectations. We have fallen in love with (your) Spain! Gloria and Maria were charming, professional, personable and we learnt so much on this one-to-one basis. We felt they were like our best friends. Thank you, thank you.

You did mention that you also do wine tours of La Rioja. In 12 months we could be interested and wondered if you have any dates set at this stage and what an itinerary could look like?

Please pass on our sincere thanks and best wishes to Gloria and Maria. You may upload this ‘thank you’ to your website if you wish.

With kind regards,

James & Maureen

Hi Ramon ~

We are home from a wonderful trip to Spain and just wanted to write a quick email to thank you
for all you did to make our travel seamless :)  We enjoyed the country as much this time around
as we did seven years ago and were happy to see some new places and things as well as revisit
some of the places we'd been before.

We enjoyed our time on every private tour and the guides for each one (Gloria, Maria, and Carmen)
and we were especially happy to meet up with Alberto again in Rioja.

We loved the accommodations in La Guardia and Javea and the charm of the place we stayed in Seville. We also were so happy with your suggestion to stop in Mojacar for lunch on our drive up the coast.  It was an incredible place and we had one of the best views and best meals (at Napoli) ever there! They were kind enough to serve us even though they had just closed for siesta.

We had many special memories and, in spite of too much rain during the trip, enjoyed every minute!
Thank you again Ramon.  We will refer people to you whenever we have an opportunity.  You are truly an expert on travel in Espana!

The trip went really well.  Most of the hotels and wineries had previous contact with you, which told me that you had some experience at this.  I also liked your selection of hotels and their proximity to the attractions that we were visiting, especially in Barcelona & Gratallops.
The tours also went very well.  Many were private tours, some with the winemaker or owner, which I particularly appreciated.
The trip was outstanding.

Hello Ramon,

Yesterday we returned home from our amazing Spain adventure. I wanted to thank you for putting together a great itinerary for us. The kids loved Spain and we hope to go back again sooner than later. I thought I would share some highlights and feedback. Hopefully it is helpful for you.
All of our guides were wonderful! Thank you. We especially liked Maria in Granada and Andres in Grazalema, but again, all were great. The transportation was a good mix of train (to Sevilla), rental car (all around Andalucia) and plane (Granda to Barcelona). We were glad we did it that way.
One of the highlights of the entire trip for all of us was the cooking class in Sevilla. Maria was amazing and our chef was great. (Photo attached). This weekend a home we will already be cooking our own Salmoreja and maybe Paella.
Zahara de los Atunes was another highlight. Splitting the trip with a few days at the beach/pool was great. We could have stayed another day.
We tried to schedule a little too much going from Zahara de los Atunes to Grazalema to Ronda all in one day so we missed the bike ride. We regretted that mostly because we really loved our guide, Andres who took us Kayaking and around Zahara de la Sierra. It would have been very fun to visit his village.
Ronda was Darci's favorite city. We ended up spending most of the day there before heading to Granada. We were glad we rented a car for this part of the trip.
I loved the Alhambra. Even with the long tour, the kids did really well. Our guide, another Maria, was great.
Thanks again for putting together an amazing trip for us. The kids loved it. Darci and I had an amazing time. We truly had a great time and look forward to visiting Spain again.

I will gladly recommend you to future friends planning their Spain adventure.

Hello Ramon,

Sorry this email reply is so late. I wanted to respond to you with Richard and Sundays are the only days we don't work and can sit at the computer together...
We had a terrific time in Spain. Thank you so much for making the trip so special and memorable. Our group has given us very positive feedback and they continue to send pictures and wonderful comments. We have a get-together to talk about the trip on the 31st at Ken and Sheri's house and only one of the travelers won't be able to make it because she lives in Iowa now.
Everyone is telling us they want to come on our next trip to Spain. We are thinking of sometime in 2017. You will have to tell us what itinerary you recommend.
If you want to want to talk on the phone, I will be available tomorrow morning from 7:30am to 8:30am (3:30pm to 4:30pm UK time). I will also be available on Tuesday morning from 6:30am to 7:30am (1:30pm to 3:30pm UK time).
Thank you!
Mar & Richard

Barcelona- Rioja+ San Sebastian

Ramon we just checked into the Alma Barcelona and all I can say is WOW.  The sleek interior, the warm welcoming staff, the comfrey lounge chairs we sat in for registration, the glass of Cava we each received and not to mention the finger print room key, it hard to say what we enjoyed the most.  We only checked in 1/2 hour ago so I'm sure there are many other surprises to continue to Wow us.  Thanks  you so much for sourcing out the best experiences for our trips.   James said it in the range and to say hello to Maria.

Hi Ramon

I wanted to say thank you for organising a fabulous trip in Rioja.  The itinerary was excellent and gave us a really good understanding of the area and its wines.  The selection of vineyards visited gave us a chance to see the different approaches (both traditional and modern) to wine making.  The hotels and restaurants were of a very high standard and our guide Inma was an excellent choice.
We had a wonderful trip and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would happily recommend you and your company to anyone thinking of visiting Spain.
Best wishes,

Chris & Kevin

We made it back to Arizona safe and sound last night. We wanted to sincerely thank you for a truly fantastic and memorable tour of Spain. We enjoyed getting to spend time with you and talk to you. We wish you the best of luck.

Hello Ramon

I feel badly about writing this email but these guests have decided to postpone their trip to Spain.

You have been wonderful to work with and as soon as they plan to travel or if I have any other guests who intend to travel to Spain I will get in contact with you immediately.

I always feel badly when this happens could I do understand the amount of time and effort we all put into planning trips that do not come to fruition.

It's been great to meet you and I'm looking forward to working together again!

A world away travels

Hi Ramon,

Unfortunately the clients have decided on their own arraignments.  I am sorry about this and appreciate the work you did with quoting & itinerary. I hope to work with you in the future ( and have the booking confirm!) as I appreciate the timely response and fair pricing you offered, as well as the great accolades that my co-workers offer about you.

Kind regards,
