WINE, GASTRONOMY & NATURE EXURSIONS
We have designed this excursion for wine, gastronomy and nature lovers. On this adventure we are combining: the white villages route, modern and traditional olive oil mills, wineries, oil and wine tasting, breathtaking scenery, romantic Ronda, gourmet lunches in privilege settings and unique accommodation. The natural region of Ronda offers ideal microclimatic conditions for making red, rose and white wine of high quality. These particular conditions (Ronda’s altitude, stable rain level, warm days and cool nights etc) have helped in the establishment of vineyards and wine cellars. The kind of grapes planted around this avant-garde wine region are Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Pinot Noir.

We depart for Arcos de la Frontera, a village that sits along a ridgeline above an impressive cliff. Our guide will walk you through a labyrinth of narrow streets, alleys, arches bridging homes, and geranium-filled white home facades, leading onto the church. After experiencing one of the most spectacular views in Spain we continue to Sierra de Grazalema arriving at a modern oil mill, where we learn how most virgin olive oil is now produced. Following an olive oil tasting with tapas we proceed to the white village of Zahara de la Sierra, one of the most stunning images in Andalucia. Here we find out about the traditional methods of oil-producing in a mill dating back to 1755. Once we have been shown around the mill, tasting the oil with toasted bread and local tapas we continue to have a deserved break in beautiful Zahara. Following our walk we arrive in Grazalema another picturesque village surrounded by mountains to sample the best local food in a splendid gourmet lunch with wine including a choice of local cheeses, charcuterie, lamb etc. A walk around Grazalema is a must after such a delicious feast. We continue to romantic Ronda one of the most fascinating towns in Spain, where we check-in to a fabulous hotel with stunning views. Next day, in the morning, after having breakfast, we’ll have a fabulous guided walking tour through the old town with its winding and cobbled streets, admiring the spectacular Bridge which spans the plunging river gorge with a sheer drop of 120 metres, dividing the medieval from the 18th century parts of the town. After visiting the famous bullring and its museum we’ll be delighted to see a typical Andalusian mansion hanging from a cliff. Lunch will be at a Michelin-starred restaurant experiencing gourmet delicacies and sampling fantastic local wines. In the afternoon we’ll visit 2 different boutique wineries, fine examples of this new up and coming wine region. The winemakers will take us around their estates making us feel privileged guests, showing unrivalled personal service and attention to detail. After tasting their fabulous wines with local tapas and sharing their passion and enthusiasm we will head back to Ronda.

Extra excursions on request: TRIP TO SETENIL - (20 minutes drive from Ronda). It is probably unique among the white villages in Andalucia. This town grew out of a network of caves in the cliffs above the river Trejo north west of Ronda. Its blinding white houses seem to emerge from the rocks, and some have rock roofs and even olive groves on their roofs. HOT AIR BALLOON - The climate of Andalucia makes this region ideal for hot air ballooning. It is becoming increasingly popular among all ages. For some it is the ultimate romantic present for a partner, while others are attracted by the incomparable sensation of floating high above the land. Early in the morning you will be taken to the balloons’ launch site where you will be waiting for the balloon to be filled with hot air. After having a memorable journey admiring the sheer beauty of the Ronda’s different landscapes: mountains, vineyards, forests etc you’ll be having a Gourmet sparkling wine breakfast: Spanish cava, freshly squeezed orange juice, sausage, cured ham, eggs, sweet buns and coffee. Finally you will receive a certificate as a memento of your ballooning adventure.
