The Transcantabrico Classic: This is a 5 star cruise across the north of Spain. The train travels from Leon to Santiago de Compostela and back. All the magic of northern Spain: gastronomy, landscape, the Cantabric sea, await for you in this internationally recognise train that has been colleting prizes for the last 28 years. The North of Spain within your reach.

The four lounge carriages of The Transcantabrico are the most unusual and beautiful places on the train. They are veritable rail treasures that are much admired owing to their exquisite design, their finish and the interior decorations. These are the common areas of the train, where over the more than twenty years of recent history and the century since they were built, many a lasting friendship has begun, inspired and encouraged by the congenial atmosphere.

Day One - El Transcantabrico Classic - Santiago de Compostela-Viveiro

Saturday.

Santiago, the universal goal of pilgrims, awaits us looking like a jewel; the Obradoiro`s Square, the Platers and its Cathedral. Lunch in Santiago. From Santiago our coach will bring us to Ferrol, where the train awaits us. Welcome and settlement. Next we shall start our journey by rail heading down Viveiro. Dinner and night in Viveiro.

Day Two - El Transcantabrico Classic-Viveiro-Luarca

Sunday - Viveiro-Luarca

Breakfast on board meanwhile the train reaches Ribadeo, the border between Galicia and Asturias. There we will take a walk along the Cathedrals' Beach. Lunch in Ribadeo. From there to Luarca, the 'White Town' on the Green Coast. Dinner and night in Luarca.

Luarca - Oviedo - Candas

Day Three - El Transcantabrico Classic Luarca-Oviedo-Candas

Monday -Luarca - Oviedo - Canda

In the Principality of Asturias, the train takes its way to Candas, and from there by coach to Aviles. Afterwards to Gijon, the Asturian seaside town par excellence Lunch in Gijon. Then we will travel to Oviedo, the capital of the Principality. which boasts a range of unique Pre-Romanesque monuments. Dinner in Oviedo and night in Candas.

Day Four - El Transcantabrico Classic Candas-Arriondas-Llanes

Tuesday 

On the way to Arriondas, we will reach the heart of Asturias: The National Park of Picos de Europa, the Covadonga Lakes, the Snanctuary of Covadonga and finally Cangas de Onis. Luch on board. Emulating the course of the International Descent of the river Sella, we will arrive to Llanes, a wonderful fishing village on the eastern side of Asturias. Dinner and night in Llanes. 

Day Five - El Transcantabrico Classic-Llanes-Cabezon de La Sal-Santander

Wednesday

While having breakfast on board, the train will arrive at Cabezon de la Sal, then we shall get the coach to go visiting the Neo-Cave of Altamira Museum and Santillana del Mar. Lunch in Santillana. In the afternoon we will arrive to Santander. City tour and dinner Afterwards, optional visit to the Casino. Night in Santander.

Santander - Bilbao - Villasana de Mena

Day Six - El Transcantabrico Classic - Santander - Bilbao-Villasana de Mena

Thursday 

After having breakfast on board, we will arrive to Bilbao, a modern city where the river ends its search of the sea. City tour and visit to the Guggenheim Museum. Luch and free time. In the afternoon we will approach by train to Villasana de Mena(Burgos). Dinner and night in Villasana de Mena.

Day Seven - El Transcantabrico Classic -Espinosa de Los Monteros-Cistierna

Friday

We will arrive to Mataporquera in the morning. From there we will take the coach to visit the Romanesque Art of Palencia: Villalcazar de Sirga, Carrion de los Condes, and Fromista. Lunch in Villalcazar. In the afternoon we will visit the Roman Ville of La Olmeda. From Guardo we will go by train to Cistierna. Dinner and night in Cistierna.

Day Eight - El Transcantabrico Classic - Cistierna - Leon

Saturday

On our last day while having breakfast we shall get to Leon and we will make a tour around this city plenty of history, where the Old Quarter will surprise the passenger... End of the trip.

The Suites

The suites of El Transcantabrico Gran Lujo have been designed for pleasure and enjoyment. They have been carefully decorated to ensure they provide guests with a special atmosphere. The train will stop during the night to ensure travellers enjoy a relaxing sleep.

The suites are i tied with either a 150 x 200cm bed or two twin beds, a wardrobe, suitcase storage, safe, 2 TVs, a VCR, games console, HiFi system, double airconditioning, a PC with free internet connection, a large sofa which can be turned into an extra bed, wireless telephone, minibar, etc. Additionally, they boast a full bathroom with hydro-massage, steam sauna, hairdryer, bathrobe and a wide range of complimentary toiletries.

Power outlets: 220volts.

The entire train is interconnected, allowing the free movement of its passengers.

The Lounges

The four original 1923 Pullman lounge cars are true railway jewels, which have been especially decorated for El Transcantabrico Gran Lujo.

Each day, our special breakfasts will be served in these common areas, where guests will be able to enjoy our Chef's best cuisine, as well as having access to our all-day bar.

In our lounges, guests will be able to enjoy national and international press, TV, a video library, a library, a collection of board games, etc.; as well as relaxing in our panoramic lounge, enjoying an aperitif in our tea room and even spending a lively evening in our pub, where live music and parties are offered every night.

With the exception of alcoholic drinks, all drinks are free during the trip.
